Oriade FC Taps Former Star Player as Assistant Coach to Bolster NLO Campaign

In a bold move aimed at strengthening their technical bench and reinforcing their grassroots football agenda, Oriade FC has officially unveiled Oyewale Hammed Olawale as the club’s new Assistant Coach ahead of the ongoing 2025 Nationwide League One (NLO) season.

The appointment of Coach Oyewale, a former club player with over two decades of football experience, underscores the Osogbo-based club’s philosophy of nurturing homegrown talent and promoting leadership from within.

The unveiling, held at the Oriade FC training ground inside Osogbo Township Stadium, was attended by team officials and young players looking to draw inspiration from a man who once laced his boots on the same turf.

Coach Oyewale, who featured prominently for clubs such as Neyo FC, Light Star FC, 44 Pillars, and Knight FC during his active years, is expected to bring his deep tactical insight and defensive versatility into play, having been effective both as a midfielder and a central defender. He also previously wore the Oriade FC jersey, making his return to the club a sentimental and strategic one.

“Oyewale Hammed is a good addition and he’s going to contribute to the development of the team, I believe,” said Club President Mr. Olanrewaju Samuel Oluwafikayo during the ceremony.

Coach Oyewale’s guiding principle — “Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts” — signals a resilient and motivational presence on the sidelines as the club continues to chart its path in the competitive Osun Center Group B.

Since its formation just over two years ago, Oriade FC has quickly risen to prominence as one of Osun State’s most ambitious grassroots clubs. Their 2025 debut in the NLO reflects a broader vision of sustainability and youth development, one that Coach Oyewale’s return is expected to energize.

With this latest appointment, Oriade FC sends a strong message about continuity, community, and capacity building — a combination they hope will lead to long-term success both on and off the pitch.
