Ojeleye Claims Double Gold, Leads Delta State 1-2 Finish in T53/54 Events

Sefiu Ojeleye delivered a spectacular performance at the national para-athletics meet, clinching double gold in the men’s 400m and 1500m T53-54 events, and spearheading Delta State’s dominance on the track.

Ojeleye, a seasoned competitor with a reputation for resilience and tactical brilliance, proved too strong for the field as he powered home to win the 400m in a blistering time of 54.21 seconds.

His teammate, Akanni Jelili, secured the silver medal in 56.08s, while Lagos State’s Aina Rafiu took bronze with a time of 56.88s.

The 1500m race saw a similar storyline as Ojeleye once again crossed the finish line ahead of his peers, cementing his status as the meet’s standout performer and an inspiration to para-athletes across the country.

“This victory means a lot to me and to Delta State. We trained hard and came here to make a statement,” Ojeleye said after his triumph. “I’m proud of the team effort and the unity we showed on the track.”
