Edo Queens’ Coach Moses Aduku Turns Attention On Federation Cup Semi-final

Edo Queens of Benin City’s coach, Moses Aduku has taken his mind away from the disappointing run his team had in the recent Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super-6, as he wants to concentrate on reaching the Federation Cup final this weekend.

Sports247 reports that Edo Queens, who were last year’s NWFL Super-6 winners, will tango Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia this Saturday in Ayungba, Kogi State, just few days after they lost their first match of the 2025 NWFL Super-6 to Remo Ladies of Ikenne, and they ended up falling short.

However, Aduku is now thinking of a consolation that would spur his side to excel next season, and he stressed that they are now looking only ahead.

However, while calmly projecting into the future, the former youth international midfielder admitted that his side had a torrid campaign in this year’s Super-6 in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Aduku lamented, “It’s unfortunate that we could not get what we wanted in the Super-6, but that’s football for you

“Sometimes it’s like that, but we have to keep on trying. So, we’ll go out now to play the semi-final against Nasarawa Amazons on Saturday, and we hope to do better.”

He then parried critical insinuations in some quarters that his team will not be able to go further in the Federation Cup, as they face Nasarawa in Ayingba, Kogi State, simply because they did not do well in the recent Super-6.

Aduku theorised, “Tournaments are of different types. Sometimes you start late and finish well, sometimes you start early and finish badly. The important thing is that we tried, and we could see how more effort can help us win all our games.”

Aduku concluded with another look at the Super-6 at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State and conceded that the defeat his team suffered in their first match of the play-off contest prevented them from retaining the trophy they won last year in Enugu.

“Unfortunately, our starting was not too good. Football is like that, Unfortunately, we could not complete the assignment by winning the trophy.” Aduku reminisced.
