Kamal, who initially trailed in the intense five-set battle, dug deep into his reserves of strength and stamina to overturn the deficit and seal a dramatic victory.

“It was a tough game — five hard-fought sets,” Kamal said after the match. “My opponent won the early games, but I had to fight back to draw level and then push even harder to win the final set. My preparation, strength, and determination helped me push through.”

The Ogun State star now has his eyes firmly set on reaching the semifinals after booking a spot in the quarterfinals.

Kamal, who has been consistent throughout the tournament, also expressed his desire to break into the national team.

“I’m pushing hard not just for a medal here but also to earn a place in the national team. It’s not an easy journey, but I’m ready to give everything I have,” he added.
