Goodluck Fiaku Clinches Bronze in Men’s High Jump at MAC Outdoor Championships

Nigerian high jumper, Goodluck Fiaku, delivered a resilient performance at the MAC Outdoor Championships, walking away with a well-deserved bronze medal in the men’s high jump event.

Fiaku soared over a height of 2.03m, matching the efforts of two other competitors.

However, it was the countback rule — which breaks ties based on the number of failed attempts at previous heights — that tipped the medal in his favour.

With fewer misses throughout the competition, Fiaku was rightfully awarded the third-place finish.

In a contest where margins were razor-thin, Fiaku’s consistency and composure under pressure proved crucial.

The result marks a significant achievement in his collegiate career, and his first podium finish at the MAC Outdoor Championships.

“It was indeed a lucky day for Lucky,” one spectator noted, echoing the athlete’s fitting name and the fortuitous nature of the countback decision.
