Ajayi Bamidele, Olawole Erioluwa, and Josephine Oloye Power into 400m Finals at WAC Championships

Nigerian athletes delivered standout performances at the ongoing West African Championships (WAC), with Ajayi Bamidele leading the charge in the men’s 400m.

The quarter-miler etched his name as the favourite for gold, clocking a commanding 46.89s to win Heat 2 and qualify for the final.

Joining him in the title showdown is compatriot Olawole Erioluwa, who claimed victory in Heat 1 with a time of 47.96s. The duo’s qualification marks a strong showing for Team Nigeria, raising hopes of a podium sweep in the men’s 400m.

On the women’s side, Josephine Oloye continued Nigeria’s fine run, booking her spot in the women’s 400m final. She posted a time of 55.18s to progress, showcasing composure and speed in a competitive field.

With three Nigerian athletes now through to the 400m finals, anticipation is high as they aim to secure medals and affirm Nigeria’s sprint dominance in the region.
