With over 12,000 athletes expected to compete in more than 30 sports from May 16 to 30, the National Sports Festival in Ogun State promises to be the largest convergence of sporting talent Nigeria has ever seen.
At the center of this historic event is a new initiative that has captured national attention—the Invited Junior Athletes (IJA).
Speaking ahead of the festival, Ambassador Paul Maduakor, CEO of ProStar Sports International, emphasized the importance of mental and physical preparation.
“This is more than just a competition,” Maduakor said. “It’s a defining opportunity for young athletes to rise, and that journey begins with discipline, focus, and self-control.”
He also issued a firm warning against distractions that could derail athletes’ dreams. “There’s no room for indiscipline or shortcuts. Every decision you make on and off the field matters. Protect your goals.”
Paul Maduako specially commended Honourable Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission, for spearheading the IJA initiative, calling it a game-changing platform for youth inclusion.
“We sincerely applaud Hon. Bukola Olopade for the introduction of the Invited Junior Athletes. It’s a visionary move that reflects deep commitment to nurturing future champions.
It gives these young athletes the exposure and experience they need at a national level—this is how legacy is built.”
As the official supplier of the NPFL’s ProStar Evolution Ball, ProStar Sports International continues to lead in performance-driven sportswear and gear, backing top-tier talent across Nigeria.
Maduakor reiterated ProStar’s commitment to supporting events that shape the future of sport in Africa.
“As we head into the Gateway Games 2024, ProStar stands with every athlete who’s ready to give it their all. The future of Nigerian sports is arriving—and it’s wearing the colors of the Invited Junior Athletes,” Maduakor concluded.
