The announcement was a major highlight of the governor’s media parley with leading sports editors across the country.

Presenting Odegbami’s certificate of appointment, Governor Abiodun revealed that the ex-international’s role will extend beyond the festival, with a focus on driving Ogun’s sports economy.

“We are proud to unveil Chief Segun Odegbami as our grand sports ambassador,” the governor said. “While the National Sports Festival is a major event, our vision goes beyond it.

With Odegbami’s expertise and contributions—such as his Amsterdam Arena-inspired blueprint—we aim to transform the MKO Abiola Stadium into a world-class facility and unlock long-term value from our investment in sports.”
