Former Nigeria youth international Festus Odini has urged the Flying Eagles to adopt the right mindset and approach as they prepare for their opening game against Tunisia at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Odini noted that the team’s attitude and determination will play a vital role in the outcome.

“The approach is very important because in every game you play, your mindset and attitude determine most of the outcome,” he said. “If they really want to win, it has to start from the heart. Sheer determination—nothing more.”
Odini added that mental preparation and composure under pressure would also be critical, highlighting the coach’s role in guiding the players through the tense moments.
“When they go through pressure, I believe the coach knows what to tell them. But if I were there, I would remind them that winning starts from the plan, the mindset. If they go into the game like they want to win with everything in them—from the blood—they will succeed.”
