The FIBA Africa Zone 3 Academies Tournament reached a thrilling boiling point on Day 2 as young basketball prodigies from Nigeria and Ghana intensified their pursuit of glory in Lagos. With a packed crowd and electrifying energy, the tournament not only showcased raw talent but reinforced the values of discipline, integrity, and youth development.

Day 2 brought a fresh wave of intense battles, with semi-final slots on the line and no room for error. Across both the boys and girls categories, rising stars stepped up to be counted, thrilling fans and scouts alike with clutch performances, defensive grit, and creative flair.

In the girls division, Amazon Academy continued their unbeaten run with narrow wins over Impression (7–4) and McSpencer (13–11), establishing themselves as strong contenders for the title. Victoria Queens dominated their tie against Taba (18–6), while McSpencer edged Anjorin in a closely fought contest.

Meanwhile, in the boys category, O’Connell Academy proved a force, dismantling LeoKarem (27–9) and later cruising past LionDen (13–2), although their run was eventually halted in the quarterfinals by Warlords (15–7). The Raptors were ruthless in their 27–3 win over Vedione and squeezed past M2 Academy 12–10 in a nail-biting quarterfinal encounter. Maktown and Beavers also booked semi-final spots after intense showdowns.

FIBA Africa Zone 3 President delivered a timely message during the event, reminding stakeholders that while competition is fierce, the heart of grassroots basketball lies in integrity, learning, and long-term development. “
