$9.5m FIFA grant: Court orders NFF to produce charge against Pinnick

A High Court in Abuja has ordered the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to produce a copy of the charge against NFF President, Amaju Pinnick and General Secretary, Dr Muhammed Sanusi in the alleged $9.5m FIFA grant scam.

Justice Peter Affen gave the order after NFF lawyer Mr Festus Ukpe informed the court that the same case against both NFF chieftains was before a magistrate court.

He also asked that an affidavit be produced before May 30 to confirm such in a bid to avoid abuse of court processes.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) speaking through its counsel, Mr Steve Odiase had said that the duo of Pinnick and Sanusi would be joined in the charge.

The charge earlier included Christopher Andekin, NFF Director of Administration and Finance, Reagan Zaka, Cashier and Fadanari Mamza, Head, Finance and Account Department – who were charged to court by EFCC on five counts of breach of trust, misappropriation and criminal conspiracy.

Odiase alleged that Andekin fraudulently diverted $1.3m dollars from the NFF domiciliary account; a grant from the Federation of International Football Association meant for the development of football in Nigeria.

He also alleged that Zaka fraudulently diverted $7.2m while Mamza diverted $2.3m from FIFA’s grant for development of football in Nigeria.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and the judge adjourned the case till May 30 for hearing.
