2023 National President Cup Open Championship: Bayelsa State Taekwondo Team Wins Tourney

2023 National President Cup Open Championship has ended in Abuja on Sunday night as Bayelsa Taekwondo Team emerged as the Overall Best Team after claiming the top position with 2 Gold, 3 Silver, and 4 Bronze on the medal table.

The 3 days competition Tournament which was organized by Nigeria Taekwondo Federation had athletes competing in Kyroigi, Poomsae, and Para, saw Team Bayelsa, Team Edo, and Team Oyo State Taekwondo finishing in the top 3 positions.

Chidinma Favour from Team Edo State won the overall best female player while Feysal Hamidou from Niger Republic won the Overall Best player for the National President Cup Open Championship.

The Head Coach of the team Judith Willaims described the success as a plus to her career after lifting the trophy presented to the Bayelsa State Taekwondo team.

“Words can’t express how I feel but I must first thank God for the success we recorded here even though this is my first outing as the head coach of the Bayelsa State Taekwondo Team. I must specially thank our director of sports in our state for the support given to us and also the working and committed president of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation for creating this kind of championship for athletes to show their skills”.

Coach Judith also commended the federation for the good work put in place for the championship. She rated the tournament a success as no issues were recorded between the coaches, the referees, and the athletes.
