2022 WAFCON: Onome Ebi Out Of Zambia’s Clash, Adding Falcons’ Selections Woe

Super Falcons Captain Onome Ebi has been ruled out of Nigeria today’s clash against Copper Queens of Zambia in the third-place match of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) today.

Ebi sustained a knock in Super Falcon’s loss to hosts Morocco in the semi-final of the tournament earlier in the week but managed to play 77minutes of the encounter.

It has now been confirmed that the 39-year-old defender will miss the final outing of the Falcons in an eventful tournament in Morocco, despite failure to make it to the final of the biennial football showpiece, Nigeria managed to secure their place in the next year 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria and Zambia have met twice at the WAFCON but both have ended in a shambolic defeat for the Southern African country including a 6-0 defeat and 4-0 loss in 2014 and 2018 respectively.

Super Falcons will consolidate on the head-to-head when both countries meet again later tonight at the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca.
