2022 NASARAWA FA CUP : Eguavon Brace, Maigishiri And Shammasu Strikes Book Nasarawa United Place In State FA Cup Final

The Solid Miners, on Tuesday, made an easy walk into this year’s Nasarawa State Football Association’s Aiteo Federation Cup final with a 4-0 hammering of hapless T.Y. Buratai Football Academy in the second semi-final clash of the competition decided at the Sports Complex of Federal University, Lafia.

Charles Eguavon scored twice in the first-half while Dauda Maigishiri and Shammasu Mohammed both scored a goal each in the second-half to guarantee United a spot into the national preliminary round of the oldest inter-club competition in Nigeria.

Eguavon’s low drive cannoned off the shin of defender, Sarkin Adoh Mohammed to put United in the lead on 20 minutes.

An inch perfect assist from Ikenna Offor saw the bulky attacker netting his second goal in the 40th minute, with the NPFL side holding on to the score line heading into the break.

With the Keffi-based side posing no harm at the United’s territory, Dauda Maigishiri made up for his many misses, scoring a sensational goal in the 62nd minute courtesy of a clever ball from Ikenna Offor.

Shammasu Mohammed completed the rout fifteen minutes to stoppage time, converting from the spot with Ikenna Offor again the architect of the assist after the intelligent wideman was hacked down in the 18-yard.

The victory means the Solid Miners will look forward to playing in the final next week at the same venue against Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC FC, who defeated Pioneers FC of Keffi 2-1 in the other Semi-final match played on Monday, but will now turn their attention to the league tie with visiting Rangers International FC of Enugu during the weekend at the New Jos International Stadium, Plateau State.
