Zidora Africa @Play: Nigeria’s Arm Wrestling Captain Olubisi Oyewusi Clinches Gold at All African Games

Olubisi Oyewusi, the captain of Nigeria’s arm wrestling team, secured gold in the 80-plus category on the final day of the All African Games.

Reflecting on her victory, Oyewusi expressed gratitude and excitement, describing the journey as long but ultimately triumphant.

“Thank you very much. I’m really happy and I’m excited. It’s a long journey here and thank God we came, we saw, and we conquered,” she remarked.

Addressing the setbacks she faced in the competition, Oyewusi acknowledged a mistake on the previous day but remained focused on the task at hand.

“I made a very silly mistake yesterday which cost me the medal. But I learned from it. And then we move forward today to get my gold medal,” she explained, demonstrating her resilience and determination.

Looking ahead, Oyewusi revealed plans to compete in the World Arm Wrestling Championship, either in Ghana or Europe, followed by another championship in August.

With her sights set on becoming a world champion, Oyewusi sees her recent gold medal as a stepping stone to further success.

“This gold medal has actually opened the podium for me to go back home, to go and train more, to improve myself on this game and become a world champion,” she affirmed, illustrating her commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in the sport.
