Youth Basketball: Organizers Plan to Expand Scope of the Major General T. A Gagariga Under-17 Inter-Barracks Classic

Organizers of the 2023 Major General T. A Gagariga Under-17 Inter-Barracks Basketball Classic, have expressed satisfaction at the level of competitiveness displayed by all four teams that took part in the 3-Day tournament, held in Abuja.

Head of the organizing committee, James Baba Muda who stated this while speaking to Radio Nigeria Sports at the final, also hintef that the sponsor, Major T. A Gagariga is already exploring ways of expanding the scope of the competition.

G-Ranks Basketball Club from Bauchi crowned 2023 champions after rallying from a first half 24-27 deficit to beat Mogadishu Cantonment 50-42.

It was the 2nd defeat suffered by Mogadishu Cantonment, who were also beaten at the preliminary phase.

Luingi Barracks won the bronze medal match, by raising their game in the 3rd and 4th quarters, to beat Mambilla Barracks 68-63, having trailed 26-27 at halftime.

The final was graced by the sponsor of the tournament, Major General T.A Gagariga and other dignitaries; but the day belonged to Solomon Iliya of G-Ranks, who won the MVP Award for 2023.
