Youth And Sports Commissioner Congratulates Nasarawa Amazons, To Watch Nasarawa United At New Adopted Home In Jos

With the breathtaking performance of the State-owned women’s football club, Nasarawa Amazons, at the ongoing 2021/22 Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, has congratulated the team for showing discipline and focus in the league.

Yargwa disclosed this shortly after the Solid Babes defeated their hosts, Adamawa Queens 1-0 in a rescheduled matchday 13 clash on Thursday, 31st March, in Gombe State.

In his words, he said, “This is to congratulate our worthy ambassadors, Nasarawa Amazons, for bringing smiles on our faces through their audacious performance in the country’s women’s elite football league.

“Throughout this season, the ladies have shown commitment, determination and hunger for success. They are yet to lose a game at home, and they have also picked vital points away from home, including the most recent one against a difficult opposition, Adamawa Queens.

“This season alone, the team won three matches away from home, which is about the best on-the-road record by any team in the current campaign.

“This means they have a well-coordinated house which is insisting on the right things to be done at the right time.

“On behalf of my Principal, the Executive Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, the Government of the State, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and entire peace-loving citizens, I wish to warmly congratulate our ladies for giving their all in the league.

“We hope and pray that they sustain this momentum until they clinch the league title, even as the Government will continue to give them all necessary financial and moral supports to excel.”

After thirteen round of games, Nasarawa Amazons are currently occupying the 2nd spot on the Group ‘A’ abridged league table with 24 points, just two points behind Edo Queens.

However, with ongoing renovation works at the Lafia City Stadium, the Amazons will temporarily resort to the Tukur Buratai Snake Farm Mini Football Field in Keffi Council Area of the State for their next home matches.

On a similar note, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Amb. Lucky Isaac Yargwa, has expressed optimism that the State-owned men’s football club, Nasarawa United, would overcome the challenges of the first stanza of the current NPFL campaign and finish among the best sides at the end of the season.

While disclosing that he would watch the Solid Miners’ reversed fixture clash against Shooting Stars this weekend in Jos, the Commissioner noted that the Solid Miners have all it takes to prove a point in the second phase of the league, revealing that ill-luck played a major part in their not-too-impressive first stanza.

Yargwa added that Government would continue to give all the needed supports to the team and entire sports in the State to do well at competitions.

The Nasarawa United versus Shooting Stars match-day 20 clash comes up at the New Jos International Stadium, Plateau State, the temporary home ground of the Solid Miners, on Sunday, 3rd April, 2022, by 4pm.
