Young Strikers 2-1 Eletu Academy: ‘The Match Look More Like A Cup Final’, Says Waheed Kosoko

Head coach of Young Strikers Football Club, Waheed Alade Kosoko has explained how they beat Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Academy when both clashed yesterday in a friendly match played at Campos Sports Centre, Lagos Island.

Young Strikers defeated Eletu Academy 2-1 in a friendly match watched by hundreds of Lagos Island football fans.

Kosoko said it was a tough game for them but confessed that he used matured and experienced players to overcome their opponents. He described Eletu Football Academy as a well-balanced team that would be difficult for any football academy to beat in Lagos.

“It was a very interesting match and tough game for both teams. The match did not look like a friendly match rather it looked like a cup final because both teams played with seriousness. We managed to beat them because I parade more matured and experienced players against them. Eletu Academy are equally a good side and I wish to play their senior team very soon,” he said.

In his own remark, Eletu Academy coach, Oluwadamilola Idowu said he was not worried about the result saying that their opponents took their chances to have won the game.

“We would have won the game but we missed so many scoring chances which cost us. Both teams played good football but in terms of tactical and technical lay we may be better than them but we lost to them due to our poor finishing,” he said.

In his own submission, goalkeeper trainer, Wasiu Lawal admitted that poor finishing in front of goal denied them from winning the game. He said the coaching crew have identified the team’s mistakes and they would work on them before their next game.

Ibrahim Gbogboade quickly put Young Strikers ahead in the 9th minute to send a warning signal to their opponents. Although Eletu Academy who enjoyed support from Lagos Island football fans missed some scoring chances before the referee signaled for the first half.

Alex Nkwocha’s second goal in 56th minutes put Eletu boys under pressure as Raphael Tofogi who missed a lot of scoring chances reduced the tally in the 76th minutes to end the encounter 2-1 in favor of their opponents.
