Nigerian-born youngster, Yisa Alao is facing a huge career dilemma, as he has been offered a formal contract by Manchester United of England, to rival interest expressed in his signature by Chelsea.

Sports247 reports that The Red Devils’ offer comes barely 24 hours after Alao verbally committed himself and his immediate future to Chelsea, with uncertainty now hogging his next step.

The youngster is now facing a similar scenario that played out in 2005, when former Super Eagles’ captain, John Mikel Obi was on the verge of joining Manchester United after the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Mikel won a silver medal with Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets and emerged as the competition’s most valuable player, behind Argentina’s Lionel Messi, which made Chelsea quickly rush a deal for him.

Dramatically, Mikel already had an agreement to join United before heading to Netherlands for the Cadet Mundial, but Chelsea played a smart one on their English Premier League rivals in scooping a formal contract with him.

A reversal of that historic switch may likely play out this month, as United have moved to scupper what appeared up till Thursday as a move to Stamford Bridge for Alao, who is now at the crossroads of a career choice.

A report by Manchester Evening News revealed, “The 17-year-old left-back is being chased by the Premier League’s biggest clubs and Manchester United have made their move for the Sheffield Wednesday prospect.

“It was reported earlier this week that Chelsea were in the lead for Alao’s signature, but United have now made a formal offer for him. The terms haven’t been disclosed, but the bid is now lodged.”

Sports247 gathered further that great expectations are still rolling through Chelsea that they will still be the ones to finally grab Alao, who made his first team debut for The Owls last month.
