WWE Sensation Oba Femi Declares: I Want Everyone To Know We Have Talent In Nigeria

United States-based fast-rising professional wrestler, Isaac Odugbesan (aka Oba Femi) has come out with a heartwarming declaration that one of his biggest targets is to let the whole world know that Nigeria has a lot of talents in sports.

Sports247 reports that ‘The Ruler,’ who is the latest sensation in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), is also happy being an ‘authentic’ Nigerian carrying the country’s banner high and stressed that he is gladly doing so.

Oba Femi added while speaking during African Voices on CNN that his costume, signature dance steps and antics when entering the ring are specially orchestrated to reflect Nigeria’s cultural heritage and showcase him as a ‘real son’ of his fatherland.

He retorted, “I want to create an image that, anywhere I go, people would know this is a Nigerian. It’s something I am proud of.
“Anywhere I go and in anything I do, I try to keep my culture out there. I am a Nigerian to the core, and I want them to know we have talent in my country.

“That’s why I am happy with the image that I’m creating and everybody is on fire right now. Everybody is talking about Oba Femi, and I’m happy with the impact that I’m making.”

The graduate of studio arts from University of Lagos, who competed I shot put during his days in the country as well as at collegiate level in the USA, recalled that some wrestlers previously carried Nigeria’s flag in the WWE, but reiterated that he is the only authentic one.

“We’ve had a bunch of guys in the past pretending to be from Nigeria or playing a role about the country, but now we have a son of the soil – someone who is authentic coming to America to ignite the industry. It’s real!

“I believe that I’m succeeding simply because if you can make it in Nigeria, you’ll make it anywhere. That’s the way the country is structured. If you survive there, you’ll survive anywhere.

“I was in the United States for three years, and I was ready for a very long time, but the guys in the industry were not ready for me. Now they are. I’ve made my impact, and the crowd is chanting my name,” Oba Femi pointed out.

Sports247 adds that the towering dark-skinned grappler set more tongues wagging when he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, then followed up with victory over Otis at RAW in the last week of April.
