Wilfred Ndidi BACK, Ready To Begin Preseason Action With Leicester City

Wilfred Ndidi has admitted that he is in a much better place’ and is ready to begin preseason with Leicester City after he returned to training following a serious knee injury.

The Nigerian international has been out since March 17, when he limped off during City’s 2-1 Europa Conference League second-leg loss to Rennes. He had to undergo surgery to ensure a faster recovery. He missed out on Nigeria’s ill-fated 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ghana in March.

After spending a week in Dubai for his rehab, Ndidi resumed training with his club teammates last Wednesday. The 25-year-old will hope to play for the first time in four months when the Foxes run out for their first pre-season friendly against Notts County on Saturday.

Ndidi told LCFC TV: “I have been working my way back. I went away for two weeks and came back early. The body has already adapted to it. It’s good. For me, I’m in a much better place.

“It’s good to be back with the lads and seeing all the lads. We’re still waiting for some of the lads but it will be good when everyone comes back and we can look forward to what we want to achieve.”

Ndidi added ahead of the match against Notts County: “The training is just to get the body toned up. As soon as the body gets ready for it, the games coming up are just another way of getting more fitness and getting us ready for more games coming.

“I just feel training is getting the body ready for the games ahead. The first game is to get game-time and gain more fitness.”
