Wike Cup: “I believe my wards are improving in every game” – Kabiru Dogo

Gallant Lobi Stars fought from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Akwa United in the matchday 3 of the Governor Wike Pre Season Tournament on Sunday.

The Promise keepers raised the blood pressure of Lobi Stars with their goal from Nigeria international Ndifreke Ndifreke as he curled in a freekick from the edge of the box.

Stanley Okafor made a run and had a chance to shoot on target but was saved by Jean Efala before Austine Ogunye drove home a rebound.

In a reaction after the game, former Sunshine FC coach Kabiru Dogo said that he was impressed with the performance of his wards as he used his second team to check the level of performance of his squad before the commencement of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

“I believe my wards are improving in every game and as we can see I introduced a new team today just to test the quality that we have.

On some of his new signings, he said it is a new environment for all of them and this is the first time they will be playing under me and I believe with time they will gel and get used to my style of play.”

“Chukwuka Onuwa is a good player but every coach has his own philosophy and style of play that might not really suit Onuwa’s style of game but as for me I believe he will help me bring my playing pattern easier and get the midfield and attack more formidable.”

Lobi Stars FC will play their third match on Tuesday against Cynosure FC at the ongoing Governor Wike Pre Season Tournament.
