WGB Lagos FA Cup: “I Came Here To Attack,” Atlantic Business Coach Adiro Yinka As Side Upsets First Bank FC

The WGB Lagos FA Cup is one that always brings upsets and with just two games in, this season has already started delivering them as newcomers Atlantic Business under the tutelage of Olayinka Adiro evicted old boys First Bank FC in the Round of 32.

In a game in which First Bank had the lion share of possession and chances with Atlantic looking to be pegged into their half for the most part of it, it was the newcomers who received an early gift kindly from the skipper and the balled was turned into the back of the net without making a mistake by James Akawu.

Speaking to Sports247 after the game, coach Yinka Adiro stated that he came mainly to attack and not soak up pressure as his team did in the second half.

“I’m elated,” he exclaimed. “The boys had to dig deep and find their inner strength and it was evident after the early lead and I’m very glad they were able to,” Yinka added.

“The initial plan was not to soak up any pressure, I came here to attack and it was evident in the chances we missed in the first half and after scoring everything changed which led to the tactical changes you noticed, from three at the back to bringing on extra legs to close up the space at the back,” explained coach of the side.

Coach Yinka went on further to state intent and purpose to win the Lagos FA Cup and nothing short of that as his target for the team.

“We have what it takes to go all the way and that’s what I intend to do with the boys. A lot of talented players are in the squad and I told them if they can’t rule Lagos then all their talent won’t be justified, so we plan to go all the way,” he concluded.
