WGB Lagos FA Cup: Clubs Begin To Fight For Q-Final Tickets

16 teams would begin their quest for the quarter-final tickets as the Winners Golden Bet Lagos State FA Cup entered the round of 16 tomorrow {Tuesday} at Alade Sports Centre, Ipaja Command, Alimosho, Lagos.

All-round of 16 matches would be played at Alade Sports Centre.

In the fixtures released by the organisers, four matches would be played on Tuesday and Wednesday to determine who qualify for the quarter-final stage.

Box To Box FC would be in action on Tuesday against Spartans at 9 am. Gbagada FC tackle Young Stars at 11 am, while Billionaire FC would face tough opponents as they confront the premier league side, MFM at 1 pm as Ighalo FC trade tackle with Emmydinho FC in the last match of the day.

Action resumes on Wednesday when Dannaz and FC Robo would battle each other at 9 am. Defending champions, Smart City face Atlantic Business, while Vandrezzer FC would meet stiffer opponents, 36 Lion FC at 1 pm as May FC and Messiah FC would be at war at 3 pm

Football fans in Lagos would storm Alade sports centre in large numbers to cheer their darling teams to victory.

Meanwhile, the match between 36 Lion and Vandrezzer is a star match as football fans, club owners, football agents, Journalists and officials of Lagos FA cannot afford to miss.

The officials of the Lagos State Football Association are expected to be on the ground as the competition enters a crucial stage where security and officiating should be paramount to the organisers.

Some fans at this stage may want to lose their patience especially when their teams are losing or lost to their opponents and it is the responsibility of the organizers in collaboration with the management of Alade stadium to put the necessary thing in place to avoid hooliganism or violence in the competition.

It won’t speak well of the organisers if violence takes place before, during and after the match. It is high time for the title sponsor, Winner Golden Bet to send their officials to the match venue and observe the tournament.

The presence of a title sponsor in the round of 16 matches would go a long way as fans would be expecting goodwill messages and goodies from the title sponsor at the end of each day.

The organisers should pay attention to all matches in the area of officiating but a match between 36 Lion and Vandrezzer FC need to be given special attention because it is a high tension soaked match for both teams. It is obvious that both teams have followers in the state and any error on the part of the officiating may mar the competition.
