Flying Eagles midfielder Divine Oliseh has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to progress from Group F in the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025.
Following the draw in Santiago, Nigeria finds itself alongside Colombia, Norway, and Saudi Arabia in a group that promises competitive fixtures.
“The World Cup is a bigger stage compared to the AFCON, where teams will be represented by their best players,” Oliseh stated. “But I believe Nigeria can advance from the group.”

The 19-year-old midfielder, who featured prominently for Nigeria at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, emphasized the importance of preparation. “Work will start in earnest as the team hopes to have a better outing in Chile,” he added.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, two-time runners-up in the tournament’s history, are aiming to build on their legacy. The team’s performance at the recent U-20 AFCON in Egypt, where they secured a bronze medal, provided valuable insights, particularly in identifying areas needing reinforcement.
Head Coach Aliyu Zubairu echoed Oliseh’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation. “My thoughts about the draw are positive.
It’s very good that Nigeria is one of the countries participating in the World Cup proper,” Zubairu said. “We’ll sit down, analyze everything from the tournament, and make changes where necessary.”
The FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025 is scheduled to run from September 27 to October 19 across four host cities: Santiago, Rancagua, Talca, and Valparaíso.
As the countdown begins, the Flying Eagles are set to commence preparations, aiming to make a significant impact on the global stage.
With a blend of experienced players and emerging talents like Divine Oliseh, Nigeria’s U-20 team is poised to embrace the challenges ahead, carrying the hopes of a nation eager for success.
