Werblack Wines Synergy Cup 2025: Island All Stars’ Former President Ikenna Maduagwu Praises Current Exco, Tips Team Lugna For Trophy

The former president of Island All Stars Club (IASC), Ikenna Maduagwu has showered encomiums on the recreational group’s current executive committee for keeping the flag flying high after he handed over to them, Sports247 reports.

While basking in the euphoria of another victory for his team, Lugna Properties at the ongoing Werblack Wines Synergy Cup in Lekki area of Lagos, Maduagwu told Sports247 that the competition’s standard has improved beyond what it was when he was in charge.

He started by showering accolades on his teammates for making their squad the first team to qualify for the next round, following Saturday’s 2-1 win over The Beats Electronics, and stressed that it further confirmed the depth of their winning mentality.

Maduagwu emphasised, “All we do is just win, no matter what we face. All we do is just go all out to win all our matches, no matter who we play against. You may be the champions, whoever you are, we don’t fear and we don’t fail.”

He went on to recount the impact that Island All Stars Club achieved during his tenure as their president and disclosed that the same impetus he had then is what he has brought into Team Lugna, thereby helping them excel more than ever in the illustrious keep-fit football competition.

Maduagwu recalled, “As the immediate past president, I remember the energy we gave this club when we were in charge. We built Island All Stars at a geometric pace, and everyone saw the expansion.

“When you now use that volume of impact into a microcosm of this size, no one will fail to see what you can do. That’s what we are doing in this team. We introduced that energy into this team, and we just keep winning. We keep on winning and winning.”

He also gave accolades to the current executive committee, which he commended for putting together a high-standard competition that is laced with good sponsorship, proper organisation and good followership.

“The current exco has exceeded my expectation. They are doing excellently well. They have leveraged the platform to ensure that this competition, which is the pride of Island All Stars, is kept at the high standard we left it.

“I give them kudos for the organisation, the standard and the finance. Everything has been top-notch. So, congratulations to the president and all his exco members,” he affirmed.

Maduagwu concluded by making an analogy of the contest for this year’s title as a tussle among several agitators at a police station, but his team emerged as early winners among the lot; due to their ability to argue better and make a bold claim for victory.

“The case is over. We were the first to call the police and we have now qualified before the others. We are the first to win this trophy, and we are going for it again.
“We are already ahead with a great margin and in winning all our matches. So, take it to the bank, nobody will stop Lugna this year,” Maduagwu boasted
