‘We Want to Win Anywhere’ – Moses Aduku Reacts After Edo Queens Defeat Ibom Angels in Uyo

The Matchday 8 encounter, played on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Uyo Township Stadium, saw the Benin City side extend their impressive run with a sixth consecutive league win.

Speaking after the match, Aduku admitted the game did not unfold exactly as his team had planned but praised his players’ resilience and winning mentality.

“We always go into every match with the mindset of getting the three points. We don’t plan to drop points, whether at home or away,” Aduku said.

“It wasn’t an easy game, and there were moments where we lost our rhythm, but the most important thing is that we found a way to win.”

Edo Queens took an early lead through Chioma Moses before Ibom Angels responded with an equaliser from Juliet John.

The contest appeared evenly balanced until Mary Mamudu struck in the 86th minute to seal the victory for the visitors.

Aduku acknowledged that the match was finely poised and hinged on small details.

“I would say the game was 50–50. It came down to a defensive lapse that cost the home side. At this level, mistakes can be decisive,” he noted.

Looking ahead, the experienced tactician stressed the importance of consistency as Edo Queens push for a place in the Super Six and defend their league title.

“Everybody wants to win all the time. That is the mentality of champions. Last season we won the league, and the target this season is to do it again. It’s not easy, but we take it one game at a time,” Aduku added.

“We want to win anywhere, and this result shows we are on course.”

The win keeps Edo Queens firmly among the frontrunners in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, as they continue their strong start to the 2025/2026 campaign.
