‘We Must Wait!’ Dombraye Says Nigeria Left in Limbo as FIFA Verdict Delay Continues

Former Nigeria international Eddy Dombraye has said the Nigeria national football team have no option but to remain patient as the football world awaits a final decision from FIFA regarding Nigeria’s petition against the DR Congo national football team.

Nigeria had lodged a complaint with FIFA over alleged breaches related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification process, but weeks later there is still no official verdict from the governing body.

Dombraye admitted the prolonged silence has created uncertainty for everyone involved.

“Nigeria and DR Congo are both waiting for the final decision from FIFA, whatever the outcome will be,” he said.

The former international explained that the delay is particularly problematic for Nigeria because of the logistical challenges that could arise if the decision eventually favours the Super Eagles.

“Nigeria’s case is more complicated because assembling players for the intercontinental playoffs will not be easy at short notice,” he added.

Dombraye pointed out that national team players are spread across different leagues around the world, making last-minute preparations extremely difficult if the verdict arrives too late.

“Players are with their clubs in different parts of Europe and other leagues, so bringing them together quickly would be a big challenge,” he noted.

Despite the uncertainty, Dombraye called for patience from fans and stakeholders while the football authorities conclude their review.

“At this stage, the only thing we can do is wait for the final decision,” he said.

However, the former midfielder also expressed concern over the lack of communication surrounding the case.

“It is worrying that FIFA has kept everyone in the dark for this long,” he added.

Dombraye concluded by urging calm among supporters while the situation unfolds.

“We must remain patient and accept whatever decision eventually comes,” he said.
