The encounter, played at the Lafia City Stadium, saw the hosts claim all three points thanks to a late strike from Alani Jumoke.
The forward held her nerve to convert an 87th-minute penalty, sealing a hard-fought win that lifts the Lafia Landladies to second place in Group B.
Nasarawa Amazons began the match on the front foot, pressing high and dictating the tempo with attacking intent.
The trio of Adesoji Esther, Abdulwahaab Faridat, and Igbokwe Joy were particularly lively, showcasing energy and determination that kept the home fans engaged throughout the contest.
Despite their dominance, the breakthrough proved elusive in the first half as both sides remained defensively resolute, heading into the interval goalless after a tightly contested opening 45 minutes.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with the hosts ramping up the pressure in search of a decisive goal. Tactical substitutions, including the introduction of Moses Farikikyen and Okah Adaobi, injected fresh impetus into the Amazons’ attacking play.
The decisive moment eventually arrived in the 87th minute when a handball inside the penalty area handed the hosts a golden opportunity.
Jumoke stepped up and calmly dispatched the spot-kick, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to secure maximum points for her side.
Speaking after the match, Danjuma praised his team’s resilience but acknowledged the need for improvement in converting chances from open play.
“We are working hard to improve, especially in converting our chances from open play. It hasn’t been easy, particularly with some key attackers unavailable, but the team showed resilience today. By God’s grace, we will do better in our next game against Osun Babes,” he said.
The coach also extended respect to his opposite number, Wemimo Mathew, highlighting their professional relationship from the national team setup.
With momentum on their side, Nasarawa Amazons will now shift focus to their Matchday 15 fixture, where they are set to travel to Ile-Ogbo, Osun State, to face Osun Babes FC in what promises to be another crucial encounter in the NWFL season.
