After playing a starring role in Wikki Tourists’ triumphant return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), goalkeeper Utum Godswill Solomon has shared an emotional reflection on the team’s journey back to the top flight, crediting focus, discipline, and unity as the foundation of their success.
Wikki Tourists sealed their promotion during the 2025 NNL Super 8 playoffs in Asaba, topping Conference A with a commanding 4–0 victory over Yobe Desert Stars.

Throughout the season, and especially in the playoffs, Utum stood tall between the sticks — delivering match-winning saves and commanding presence in goal.
In a heartfelt statement following the promotion, Utum said:
“This is not my drawing but I must give it to all my teammates and my coach for telling us to remain focused and disciplined. At the beginning of the season, we had one target — to return to the NPFL. But today, it is not just a dream, it is a reality. I’ll keep my eyes up and be sure I’ll get to the best level.”
The Bauchi-based club had been relegated from the NPFL in 2023, but under the guidance of head coach Abdu Maikaba, the team rebuilt with resilience. Utum emerged as one of the standout performers in the second-tier league, with consistent top form and crucial saves that proved decisive in Wikki’s unbeaten playoff campaign.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with fans and pundits alike tipping him as one of the breakout stars to watch in the upcoming 2025/26 NPFL season.
Wikki Tourists’ return to the top flight, fueled by Utum’s leadership from the back, marks a new chapter for the club — and possibly the start of a bigger journey for their reliable number one.
