Zambia international Misozi Zulu has admitted that the postponement of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations was disappointing but insisted that the Zambia women’s national football team remain focused on achieving their ultimate goal.
The continental tournament, which was originally scheduled to take place earlier in the year, was recently moved to July–August 2026 by the Confederation of African Football, a decision that has generated mixed reactions across African women’s football.

Zulu acknowledged that the change in schedule has been frustrating for players who had been preparing for months.
“Of course it is sad that the tournament was postponed,” Zulu said.
However, the midfielder maintained that the Copper Queens are determined not to lose focus despite the unexpected development.
“Our target has always been to qualify for the Women’s World Cup and compete strongly in the WAFCON,” she added.
Zulu stressed that the team remains confident about its ability to compete against any opposition on the continent, including traditional powerhouses.
“We are not afraid of any African team,” she stated.
According to the Zambian star, the Copper Queens have been working hard to improve their level and believe they can challenge the best teams in Africa.
“We want to face the strongest teams and prove that we belong among the best,” she said.
Zulu also highlighted the team’s ambition of reaching the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which remains one of their long-term objectives.
“Our dream is to play at the World Cup and make our country proud,” she explained.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the tournament’s scheduling, Zulu insisted the team will continue preparing with the same determination.
“Whatever the situation, we will stay focused and keep working hard,” she concluded
