We Cannot Leave Everything For The Government Alone- Capt. Jamil Abubakar Admits…Says The Soccer Trials Will Not Only Empower The Youth, But Also Help The Nation At Large

The representative of the Soccer trial Scouting Programme, Capt. Jamil MD Abubakar has said that the purpose of the event is to empower youths in the country, as well as scouting for better players for NFF for the National team.

The Soccer trial Scouting Programme is aimed at youth empowerment in the country. The initiative is developed to enhance the youths for better future, scout for great and potential talents, who are within the age brackets, place them in their different academies, as well as sending these players abroad during the transfer windows, as this would also help the NFF in getting great players to represent the National team.

In a chat with Sports247, the outspoken representative admitted that all could not be left for the Government to do alone, as this programme will not only empower the youth but the country at large, as well as helping to reduce the neglect of Public (Government institutions) and Private institutions (Individual institutions).

“We cannot leave everything for Government to do alone. The initiative was born out of the idleness we witness in the society, as you know that there are no jobs and our economy is going through really hard times now. Even if you want to give somebody a job, payment of salaries is a huge problem, and most times cannot sustain them, so we out of our own passion and contribution to youth development in the country, we charge ‘free of charge’. We give a platform to youths who have nobody in the society so that they know that tomorrow can actually be better and that they have hopes of amnestying their own potentials through hard work, will and Grace. At the end of the day, helping one youth is like helping a Nation, because the youth is actually the bedrock of the Nation, so we want to try to reduce the neglect of not only Government but even private institutions and individuals and see how we will contribute to youth empowerment”.

While still speaking, from Zanfara, Lagos-born and based Captain said that the Nigeria U17 coach during his visit on Monday at the Agege Stadium admitted that the programme could also enable the NFF scout for young and potential talents as well as pick players to represent the National team.

“The U17 Coach, Fatia Amao said that he was really impressed with the talents he has seen here, and he said that it’s very possible that the NFF can benefit from this because now they can spot talents without people having to lobby their way in or pay anybody for anything, so that’s really what gave birth to the initiatives”, he added.

Abubakar also admitted that the event ought to be a 3-Day Scouting Programme, but due to some difficulties, different academies had to be set up by them so as to get potential talents and put them in these academies, as well as introduce academic strategies to them, with the purpose of transferring this talent abroad during the transfer window.

“It was supposed to be a 3-Day Scouting Programme, but during the whole arrangement and talks with clubs, things changed and we had an agreement that we will do this every transfer widow, hence the academy had to be born, we had no plan for it, so we will not have to keep organizing trials and bringing people from different people. We want to get potential talents to put them in an academy and when we are sending players abroad, they can leave from the academy and everything will be smooth. We will introduce the academy activities to the players so that the players can have an idea of where they are going and have some brief history of what they will face, so we can amnesty and build the talent”, he said.

The Soccer trial Scouting Programme is set to continue its tour in Kano State after its activities in Lagos State.
