Speaking ahead of the competition, Emmanuel revealed that the team has been in camp for an extended period, using the time to build chemistry, refine strategies, and sharpen their overall approach.
“We are ready for the task,” he said, emphasizing the level of preparation that has gone into getting the team competition-ready.
For the coach, readiness is not just about physical fitness, but also psychological strength, an area he believes the team has significantly improved.
“We are mentally prepared,” he noted, highlighting the importance of focus and confidence when competing at this level.
The upcoming tournament presents a key opportunity for Nigeria to assert itself among other West African nations, with strong performances potentially opening doors to greater exposure and development.
Emmanuel also pointed out the high stakes involved.
At the continental level, success comes with rewards beyond just trophies. Winning teams will receive financial support to compete at the intercontinental phase, while eventual champions will qualify for the World Championship in their respective categories.
“That’s the target,” he implied, making it clear that the team is aiming high.
The camp period has allowed players to understand each other better, improve coordination, and align with the tactical philosophy of the coaching staff.
For Emmanuel, this cohesion could be the difference-maker when the competition begins.
As the tournament approaches, expectations will naturally rise, but so will belief.
For Nigerian handball, this represents another step in building a strong pipeline of talent capable of competing on the international stage.
And if their coach’s confidence is anything to go by, the team is not just participating.
They are ready to compete, and ready to make a statement.
