Captain of Nigeria’s national women’s cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, Favour Eseigbe, has lauded her team’s resilience and unity following a remarkable turnaround at the ongoing Kwibuka T20i tournament in Rwanda.
After a shaky start that saw Nigeria lose their first two matches, the team has bounced back impressively with five wins out of eight games—reviving their chances of reaching the semi-finals.

“This win means everything,” said Eseigbe
“We knew we had to bounce back, and the entire team responded brilliantly. The batters gave us a defendable score, and our bowlers stood strong when it mattered.”
Eseigbe, whose leadership has been instrumental both on and off the pitch, credited her teammates for staying focused and maintaining discipline throughout the campaign.
The win over Uganda was especially vital, placing Nigeria firmly in the top four and contention for a semi-final spot, pending other results.
She also expressed gratitude to Nigerian fans for their unwavering support.
“We’ve felt the love, even from afar. We know our early games weren’t perfect, but the belief Nigerians have in us is powerful. We’re not done yet,” she said.
The Kwibuka T20i tournament is held annually in remembrance of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, and brings together Africa’s top women’s cricketing nations.
For Nigeria, the tournament is more than a sporting event—it’s a platform to reshape their narrative on the continental stage.
With the semi-finals looming, the Yellow Greens remain focused on pushing further and making history in Kigali.
