We Are Hungry! NLO Clubs Cry Out To NFF Over Palliatives From FIFA

By Samuel Bamisebi

The news about the NFF receiving palliatives from FIFA once circulated the internet. The NFF chairman Amaju Pinnick confirmed in October 2020, the receipt of one million dollars ($1m) from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) as statutory funds and not palliatives, this excludes the other funds he said the body would receive from CAF and that received from sponsors.

The money which is supposed to be shared between the men and women’s team in Nigeria, league clubs, and the likes, seems to have gotten to some clubs and the others left in the dark and to when they will get their funds.

An undisclosed Chairman of NLO Club in a chat with Sports247 revealed that the Nationwide League One clubs haven’t received their share of the money. “We don’t know what is happening to our palliative. We were asked to send account details, of which a good number did…we don’t know who wants to eat our Fifa palliative,” he cried.

“NLO Clubs are asking for their FIFA palliative, we are hungry and we need our money,” the man said. He also said the teams are expecting one hundred and sixty-three thousand Naira (N163k) each and that the NFF in their sharing formula said there are about 308 clubs.
