Waidi Akanni In ‘Awe’ Of Talents At The Fusion Football Championship: ‘We Need More Of This Leagues’

Nigerian ex-international and former Lagos State FA chairman, Waidi Akanni has praised the organization of the Fusion Football Championship.

The former defender is in awe of the talents on the show and asked for more effort to be channeled towards the development of grassroots football in Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview with Sports247, Akanni said:

“I saw the news about the ongoing Fusion Football Championship games and I felt I should come and see what’s going on. I am really impressed.

“This is where grassroots starts from. This is where we need to develop and put in more energy. Let this young boy have the opportunity to showcase their talents.

“I have actually enjoyed the games. We need more of this kind of tournaments and leagues to be around so that we can see a lot of these boys play football.”

Akanni also extended praise to the organizers of the Fusion Championship, reiterating the need for similar tournaments to be put in place.

“And of course we have to give kudos to the organizers. We need to encourage them. We need more of these leagues coming up around Lagos and by doing so we will see a lot of talents amongst these boys.” he concluded.
