The three-day seminar will take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from February 8 to 10, and represents the first official programme of the year for CAF Zone West B.

It is designed to enhance youth football development across the sub-region.

A total of 14 U-17 coaches and their assistants, drawn from the seven member federations of WAFU-B, are participating in the intensive training programme.

The seminar will cover several key areas critical to modern coaching and player development, including modern training techniques, tactical approaches and game intelligence, mental preparation for young players, the laws of the game and refereeing, as well as CAF licensing requirements.

According to the organisers, the initiative aims to harmonise coaching standards across the zone, further professionalise technical personnel, and better prepare the next generation of West African football talent for continental and global competitions.

With football continuing to evolve rapidly, WAFU Zone B believes that equipping youth coaches with up-to-date knowledge and best practices is essential to sustaining the region’s competitiveness and long-term success.

For the duration of the seminar, Abidjan will serve as the hub of U-17 technical expertise in the zone, marking another step towards improved professionalism, regional cooperation and sporting excellence within West African football.
