Nigeria’s Flying Eagles duo of Alfred Odinaka and Abdulmuiz Adeleke have been named in the official Group Stage Best XI of the ongoing WAFU B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
The selections reward the impressive performances of the two Nigerians during the group phase, with Adeleke particularly standing out in attack for his goalscoring contributions.
Burkina Faso and hosts Côte d’Ivoire dominated the Best XI with three players each, while Nigeria had two representatives.
Ghana, Niger and Togo contributed one player apiece.
Côte d’Ivoire’s Kouassi was selected in goal, while the defensive line featured Burkina Faso’s Donatien and Dabo, Nigeria’s Alfred Odinaka and Togo’s Gbande.
The midfield comprised Burkina Faso’s Zongo, Côte d’Ivoire’s Koné and Niger’s Youssouf.
Ghana’s Nkrumah joined Nigeria’s Adeleke and Côte d’Ivoire’s Eloye in the forward line.
The recognition provides another boost for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles as they continue their campaign in the regional championship.
The inclusion of Adeleke and Odinaka also highlights Nigeria’s contribution to the tournament’s standout performers, despite Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire providing the largest number of players in the selection.
With the knockout phase approaching, the Flying Eagles will now look to translate their strong individual performances into collective success as they chase the WAFU B U-20 title.
