WAFU-B: Revenge Mission Backfires As Flying Eagles Miss Out on 2027 U20 AFCON

The defeat ended Nigeria’s hopes of defending their regional title and qualifying for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. Burkina Faso secured the WAFU B qualification ticket after completing an unbeaten campaign.

Burkina Faso raced into a 3-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes, with goals from Alassana Bagayogo, Asharaf Tapsoba and Issouf Dabo.

Nigeria struggled to recover before Abdulmuiz Adeleke pulled one back, but the Young Stallions added a fourth through Fadil Barro to seal a convincing victory.

The result is particularly disappointing for Nigeria after the Flying Eagles had entered the final hoping to avenge their earlier 2-0 group-stage defeat to Burkina Faso. Instead, the Young Stallions defeated Nigeria for the second time in the tournament.

FULL-TIME:  Nigeria 1-4 Burkina Faso

⚽ Burkina Faso: Alassana Bagayogo, Asharaf Tapsoba, Issouf Dabo, Fadil Barro

⚽ Nigeria: Abdulmuiz Adeleke

Burkina Faso are  the current WAFU B U20 champions, while Nigeria failed to defend their title and miss out on the 2027 U20 AFCON
