Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been handed a challenging Group C draw ahead of the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from March, 2026.
The group stage draw places the defending champions alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in what is widely regarded as one of the most competitive pools of the tournament.

Ten – time African champions Nigeria will open their title defence against familiar rivals Zambia, one of Africa’s fastest-rising forces in women’s football.
The Copper Queens have grown in stature in recent years and are expected to pose the toughest challenge to the Super Falcons in the group.
Egypt and Malawi complete Group C, with both teams targeting qualification to the knockout rounds.
Egypt continue to show steady improvement on the continental stage, while Malawi will be aiming to cause upsets against more established opponents.

Elsewhere, tournament hosts Morocco headline
Group A alongside Algeria, Senegal and Kenya.
Group B features former winner South Africa, who will face Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Tanzania, while Group D is made up of Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Cape Verde.
The 2026 WAFCON will bring together Africa’s top women’s national teams as they compete for continental glory and qualification spots for global tournaments.
Nigeria, the most successful team in the history of the competition, will be aiming to successfully defend their crown and further cement their dominance in African women’s football when the tournament kicks off in March.
