The Super Falcons of Nigeria have officially arrived in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), making a memorable entrance as they prepare to defend their continental crown.
The defending champions captured the attention of football fans across Africa after arriving in coordinated green-and-white Adire outfits, complete with elegant matching headwraps.
The traditional attire reflected Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and generated widespread admiration on social media as the team settled into its tournament base.
Nigeria’s arrival in Rabat follows the conclusion of a productive 10-day training camp in Casablanca, where head coach Justine Madugu fine-tuned his squad ahead of the competition.
The preparations ended on a positive note with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in a friendly match, providing the team with confidence ahead of the tournament.
The Super Falcons, Africa’s most successful women’s national team, are aiming to win a record-extending 11th WAFCON title. They have been drawn in Group C, where all their group-stage matches will be played in Rabat.
Nigeria will begin their title defence against Malawi on Tuesday, July 28, at the Al Madina Stadium before taking on Zambia on Saturday, August 1, at the same venue.
Their final group match will be against Egypt on Wednesday, August 5, at the Olympic Stadium. All three fixtures are scheduled to kick off at 9:00 p.m. WAT.
Adding to the excitement ahead of the tournament, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) unveiled a special 10-star Super Falcons jersey. The stars encircle the national badge, with each star representing one of Nigeria’s 10 WAFCON triumphs, celebrating the team’s unrivalled dominance in African women’s football.
