Head-to-Head

Historically, Nigeria holds a commanding record over Algeria. The Super Falcons have defeated the Fennecs in all their previous WAFCON encounters:

2004 WAFCON – Nigeria 4–0 Algeria

2006 WAFCON – Nigeria 6–0 Algeria

More recently, the two sides met in international friendlies in October 2024, with Nigeria winning 2–0 and 4–1, respectively. Rasheedat Ajibade and Folashade Ijamilusi were standout performers, combining for five goals across both games.

Match Preview

Nigeria head into the tie with six points from two games, having beaten both Tunisia and Botswana.

Algeria are on four points following a 1–0 win over Botswana and a goalless draw against Tunisia.

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum may opt to rest key players such as Asisat Oshoala, while midfielder Deborah Abiodun is suspended due to yellow card accumulation.

Despite Nigeria’s dominance in past meetings, Algeria will be buoyed by their current form and the opportunity to make history with a place in the quarter-finals.

What’s at Stake

Nigeria: A win or draw ensures top spot in Group B, which could result in a more favourable quarter-final draw.
