Al-Itihad female team of Saudi Arabia left-wing-back, Ashleigh Plumptre has sent out words of appreciation to her colleagues in the Nigerian national team for helping her shine at the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Sports247 reports.
As many Nigerian female football followers continue questioning the absence of her name from the competition’s Best 11 All Stars squad, Plumptre parried suggestions that she was the Super Falcons’ best player at WAFCON 2024.

Though she thanked all Nigerians who are making a case for her, the former Leicester City of England defender insisted she played well because there are many good players in the team.
“I feel pretty overwhelmed by the good comments, but I always say I’m able to play better when I’m around good players.
“I feel like my performances have really been a reflection of the strength of our team as a whole,” said Plumptre, who qualified to play for the Falcons through her grandfather’s birth in Nigeria.
