Chairman of the Kogi State Football Association, Hassan Wada, has thrown his support behind the Nigeria Football Federation’s decision to retain Super Eagles head coach Eric Sekou Chelle, describing the move as timely and well thought out.
Wada said Chelle has earned the right to continue in the role based on his results and overall impact since taking charge of the national team.
“Coach Chelle’s win ratio per game speaks for itself,” Wada said. “He has shown capacity, discipline and a clear understanding of the team, and that is why retaining him is the right decision.”
The Kogi FA boss added that with another major international tournament approaching, changing the technical direction of the team would be a risky move.
“With important competitions just months away, it would be dangerous to start searching for a new manager,” he noted. “Stability is key, and Chelle has given Nigerians reasons to believe.”
Wada expressed optimism about the future of the Super Eagles under the Franco-Malian coach, stressing that continuity will help the team build on recent progress.
“What the team needs now is consistency and support,” he said. “If Chelle continues with the same level of commitment, I believe the Super Eagles can achieve even greater success.”
His comments add to growing backing from football stakeholders across the country in support of the NFF’s decision to maintain stability in the Super Eagles’ technical leadership.
