WABA’s Inaugural Titles In Zimbabwe Would Be An Ice Breaking Boxing Bonanza

As the WABA TEAM wind-ups its ring officials training seminar and development tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s archipelago city of Dubai, all attentions are NOW focused on Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe where three WABA major titles are at stake.

In a major undertaking to consolidate its market share in the sport of boxing industry, the body’s top echelon led by the President and Chair of the Board Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi and its Director of Human Resources Management (DHRM) Irene Joseph Magebo from Tanzania is expected to camp in Harare, Zimbabwe to co-ordinate a three-day ring officials training seminar for the Southern African countries.

The training to include boxing, mma, muaythai, K1 and kickboxing will focus on imparting both knowledge and skills to the referees, judges, and cutman. The intention is to build WABA’s formidable skillful team to grow boxing and combat sports in the Southern African region.

Boxers Charles Manyuchi will meet the powerful Ugandan punching sensational Mohamed Sebyala for the unified WABA Supreme World Title and WBF World Middleweight Title while Zimbabwean boxing Princess Revai Mandondo meets the South Korean boxing Princess Justine Lallemand for the unified WABA Supreme International Title & WBF International Flyweight Title respectively.

The Zimbabwean boxing rising star Tinashe Mwadziwaba will meet the Tanzanian “Tanzanite Boy” Hamidu Kwata for the “WABA Supreme Africa Lightweight Title”.

The Malawian powerful army senior private Anisha Bashir from the Deltaforce International Gym will meet the Italian boxing sweetheart Paola Cappucci from the Brizon International Gym in one of the mouthwatering supporting bouts.

The President Challenge Knockout Sanctions is a campaign to lift the economic sanctions following the SADC Head of States resolutions. The economic sanctions were imposed on Zimbabwe in 2003.

Several other boxing bouts of significant importance will also take place during the event that is expected to draw a huge number of boxing stakeholders from the SADC region.

The tournament is promoted in partnership with Charles Manyuchi Boxing Academy owned by boxer Charles Manyuchi and Deltaforce Boxing Academy owned by Cylde Musonda.

The bouts have been matchmaking by two international matchmakers C. Musonda and A. Phiri while the WABA Commissioner to Zimbabwe Gilbert Munetsi is coordinating the WABA Titles.

Meanwhile, WABA’s champions from the tournament in Zimbabwe will be part of the “Meet the Champions” night during the WABA Convention in Dubai from 8 to 12 April 2021.
