WABA Gives Cheka And Wanyonyi Lifelines

Tanzanian former IBF/Africa Super Middleweight King, Francis Cheka will meet Kenyan Daniel Wanyonyi for the WABA Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Title on January 23rd, 2021 at the Azam Chamazi Stadium in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania.

Cheka’s petulant demeanor would meet conspicuously uninvolved Wanyonyi who lost to Cheka in 2011 at the Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro, Tanzania.

The two old rivals have engaged with a score of foreign fighters especially East Europeans and managed to build-up reputations as non-nonsense fighters.

The derby is coming at a time when WABA is spreading its wings around the world to give boxers international recognition and good earnings.

Mbwana Matumla, once Tanzania’s boxing star, came along with several distinguished title belts in one of the mouthwatering bouts prior to Cheka/Wanyonyi’s WABA diadem.

Several other talented boxers from Tanzania would fight in supporting bouts before the men with fast hands Francis Cheka and Daniel Wanyonyi’s duel.
