VOLLEYBALL: LAGOS SETS TO HOST 2ND EDITION OF CAVB TOURNAMENT IN APRIL…NIGERIA CUSTOMS, IM MIGRATION TWO OTHERS TO REPRESENT NIGERIA

All is now set for the hosting of the second edition of the confederation of Africa volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3 male and female clubs championship scheduled to hold in Lagos between 14th and 19th April,2019, sports247.ng reports.

 

According to a release made available to newsmen by the chairman Media and Publicity, Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Kehinde Lamidi said that the two male and female clubs from six countries will be participating in a week long tournament with the host, Nigeria presenting highest numbers of clubs.

sports247.ng also learns that going by the list of the registered clubs, Benin Republic is presenting two male clubs, Finances, Entente and Entente in the female category. Burkina Faso has Sonapost in male and As Douanes in the female categories.

Ghana is presenting her best clubs, Ghana police in the two categories while Niger also is presenting Gendarmerie and Police in the two categories.

Togo registered two male clubs, AS OTR and Etoile Filante while the female club is AS OTR.

The host,Nigeria is presenting highest numbers of clubs in the male and female categories as it is parading Nigeria Immigration, Nigeria Customs,Nigeria Civil Defence and Kano Pillars in the male category while Nigeria Customs, Nigeria Immigration, Nigeria Civil Defence, Kada Emeralds and Benue Queens are featuring in the female category.

Speaking on the tournament, the president of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod said all arrangements have been concluded to ensure a successful hosting of the continental tournament.

“The organising and technical committees of the federation as well as the secretariat had visited and met with the management of University of Lagos to inspect the facilities while the board is putting finishing touches to other logistics with a view to improving on the lapses identified in the last edition” Nimrod emphasized.

The President of the CAVB Zone 3, Paul Atchoe expressed confidence on the ability of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation in hosting effectively judging by the successes recorded in the last edition.

The clubs are expected to start arriving Nigeria as from 13th of April,2019.
