A senior secondary three (SS3) student at United Universal Comprehensive College, Ikotun, Lagos, Oluwaseun Adeola Afolayan has disclosed how much he admires watching two highly rated central defenders play in the English Premier League (EPL).
The youngster, who is fondly called ‘Dazzler’ by his colleagues at Super Accurate Football Academy of Ikotun, told Sports247 that the top centre backs he admires are Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool and Calvin Bassey of Fulham, who he disclosed provide him with various styles of play to emulate.

The lanky youngster, who was born in Lagos but hails from Oke-Ero in Kwara State, added that Van Dijk is his hero on the global scale, but he equally gains a lot of inspiration from watching Bassey play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
“I actually like both of them, but they have different styles. I admire Van Dijk because he plays with tactics and a lot of technique in central defence. He even goes forward to score for his club.
“As for Bassey, he has power, action and determination. I also admire Bassey because he is a Nigerian, and I love seeing him play for the Super Eagles. He inspires me to believe that I can also play for Nigeria in the future,” Adeola explained.
At club level, Adeola went on to reveal that he loves Remo Stars of Ikenne, because his current academy is affiliated to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, but the ambitious lad admitted he would prefer to start his professional career at Manchester City of England, where he believes his ambition of becoming a global star would be easier to achieve.
“I love Remo Stars because my club are presently like a junior team for them; and my coach, Idris Oseni Adewale, who we all call ‘Super,’ is related to their chairman.
“However, it’s Manchester City that I want to play for when I finish from school. I am thinking of going to Obafemi Awolowo University to study Sports and Physical Education after my WAEC examination next year.
“After that, my biggest goal is to play for Man City before I become 18 years old. That way, it will be easier for me to achieve my goal of being at a better level in football and make people happy with my game,” enthused the astonishingly tall libero
