Victor Osimhen Recalls Asking God Questions, Due To Tough Times He Faced While Growing Up

Super Eagles’ striker, Victor Osimhen has reflected on the tough days he had as a kid, while growing up in the Ojota-Oregun area of Lagos, and recalled how he often asked God why things were so rough for him.

Sports247 gathered that Osimhen’s reflections come at a point when SSC Napoli of Italy has ordered him to begin pre-season training with their Naples-based squad next week, as his transfer issue continues dragging once again; but the hitman appears to be staying calm.

Rather than be scared by another transfer hurdle and uncertainty over its likely outcome, as it was last summer when he ended up joining Galatasaray of Turkey on loan at the very last minute, Osimhen is staying calm amidst the prolonged debacle.

The former Ultimate Strikers of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Racing Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France top striker, who broke several records last season during his time with Galatasaray, said he need not fear any challenge in life, because the grace of God keeps lifting him high.

Osimhen declared, “To be honest, I knew long ago that I was special and that I would be successful.

Be it not in football, it could be something else, but I knew that I had the grace of God.

“I put God first in all that I do. So, I was condemned to make it big. That is why I always challenge myself to achieve great things.”

He concluded by acknowledging that hard times while growing up made him question God’s place in his life, but, on hindsight, the 26-year-old star admitted it was to toughen him back then, in order to overcome all hurdles he would face in his football career.

“There were a lot of times when I cried in my private moments, and I spoke directly to God. That was when I saw how other kids in the hood were living well.

“I asked God, ‘Why not me?’ Those kids were the Dangote of the hood at that time, and mine was bad … but, see where I am today; through the grace of God,” Osimhen sermonised.
