Victor Osimhen Happy To Score Four, Refuses To Rule Out Transfer Speculations

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has reacted to Nigeria’s historic win against São Tomé and Príncipe in their second Group A match of the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers on Monday evening.

Osimhen was on the scoresheet four times as Nigeria hammered ‘The The Falcons and True Parrots Team’ of São Tomé and Príncipe 10-0 at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, Morocco to move top of the Group A after Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau played 2-2 draw in their second Group A fixture.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Victor Osimhen expressed his excitement to have scored four in the encounter and was full of praise for his teammates and the coach for doing a better job.

“First of all, I will say congratulations to the whole team and a big kudos to the coach on the instructions he has given to us. I believed we carried 80-90% of them.

And of course happy to get 4 goals and happy for my other teammates that got their goals as well, with the likes of Moffi, Lookman and of course Dennis.

There is a lot of solidarity in the team. This is what the coach has taught us. And I believe as a group we have the qualities To continue to build on this momentum and yeah I want to keep on getting the goals for the team and keep on getting the win for them and I believe that as each game comes by we want to get the 3 points because it is important in this qualifying games and of course, we don’t want to lose in this qualifying games because we have an objective and we are looking forward to it.”

With multiple transfer rumours linking him with a move away from Napoli to the Premier League in this Transfer Window, Osimhen refuses to ascertain speculations surrounding his future, echoing ‘anything can happen.’

“Talking about transfer now, I think it is the right moment for me because I just finished with the national team. We had two good games with two wins.

And of course, every moment stays and there are a lot of rumours going around and in Europe, anything can happen, I don’t know what will happen in the summer but I just want to go back to my family and have a good time with them, relax and refresh my mind and of course when the right time comes I have to put on my pitch. “

The 23-year-old believes that even if he surpassed Rashidi Yekini’s 37 goals record for Nigeria, he will still consider him the best striker ever adorned the colour of Nigeria.

“Even if I surpass Rashidi Yekini, for me I believe that he is the best striker we have ever had and he will continue to be the best striker ever no matter who surpasses his goal haul

For me, I just want to get the goals and continue to win games and of course, the objectives which we have set for ourselves,” he concluded.
